RoadReview is the driving-school software for class B197 training — the manual entitlement under key number 197. The exam is taken on an automatic, and full manual entitlement comes from at least 10 manual-gearbox lessons and an in-house shift test. RoadReview tracks exactly these records.

Exam on automatic, full manual entitlement

Key number 197 removes the split between automatic-only and manual licences. Taking the exam on an automatic but providing the manual records yields a class B without restriction 78. RoadReview runs B197 as class B training with the added manual record.

  • Theory curriculum and special drives like class B
  • Practical exam on automatic, scheduled and managed
  • Result: class B without key number 78

Track manual lessons and the automatic flag

B197 requires at least 10 manual-gearbox lessons in a manual car. RoadReview records an automatic flag per drive, so it can distinguish and count manual and automatic drives — progress toward manual entitlement stays visible at all times.

  • Automatic flag per drive (manual vs automatic)
  • Manual lessons counted against the requirement
  • Mistake log evaluates typical gear-shifting mistakes

Document the shift test and issue the record

Before the exam comes the in-house final shift test (no test-authority date). RoadReview keeps this record per enrolment; the practical exam is managed separately. The training record is produced digitally as a PDF with your school letterhead.

  • In-house shift test documented per enrolment
  • Exam attempts with date, location and result
  • Exam-readiness score as guidance — a recommendation, not a guarantee

Frequently asked questions

What does class B197 mean?

B197 stands for key number 197: you take the exam on an automatic but receive a full class B with manual entitlement. The former automatic-only restriction (key 78) does not apply.

How many manual lessons does B197 require?

B197 requires at least 10 manual-gearbox lessons in a manual car plus an in-house shift test. RoadReview counts the manual drives via the automatic flag against this requirement.

How does RoadReview tell manual and automatic drives apart?

Every drive carries an automatic flag. This lets RoadReview separate manual and automatic drives cleanly and show progress toward manual entitlement — the basis for the B197 record.

Does the shift test replace the practical exam?

No. The final shift test is an in-house record before the exam, not a test-authority date. The practical exam is taken on an automatic and managed separately in RoadReview.
