SEPA direct debit
Also known as: SEPA mandate · Direct debit · SEPA-Lastschrift
SEPA direct debit is a pull-based payment method: with a signed mandate, the payee collects due amounts from the payer's account. In a driving school it lets the school collect students' open invoices automatically.
SEPA Direct Debit lets a payee collect recurring or one-off amounts without the payer actively transferring each invoice. It rests on a mandate that the payer grants to the creditor.
Key terms:
- The creditor identifier and mandate reference uniquely identify the collection and the mandate.
- The mandate authorises collection and can be revoked.
- The payer can dispute a debit within the statutory refund windows.
The RoadReview management system in closed beta implements payment links and invoice collection. SEPA collection requires a suitable active school payment setup and a valid mandate; availability also depends on the payment provider. Registration prepayments are a separate, restricted path. Online enrolment therefore does not automatically mean an operational SEPA mandate is in place.
